This stain went on much easier than I expected. I ended up refinishing our coffee table, stair railings, and master bathroom cabinets with it. Great product. I put the stain on using a stain brush and letting the stain dry to achieve a dark espresso finish. After 3 coats and light sanding between I used the General Finishes top coat. Came out great.I used it to stain solid maple table top. Already that is a tall order for any stain, but it did get the very dark color I was after. Because of the size of the table and the speed at which it dried, it took two people and we have to lap the stain. This left dark streaks that looked bad. Rather than sand off and re-stain, we went ahead and topcoated and the streaks mostly cleared out. A little deceiving during application but the finished product is good.Might have benefited from thinning the stain at the start, will try that next time. This stain went on uniformly, excellent finish.Just make sure to test it on your material first. Applies very dark and because it's water based it drys fast. You don't have long to work it into material. Testing it will allow you to thin it if necessary. The color was greystone and from the title one would think it was on the grey side, but the picture on the can looked warmer, like a reclaimed wood. I'm very unhappy with the color. All else is good.I now have to paint the door.?I used this product on my oak floor, which needed to be stained, because it was very badly marked up. This was my first ever floor refinishing project, so I had no prior experience to draw from, and no idea what to expect. But, I found this stain to be very easy to work with. I found it's best if you thin it with water. 3 parts stain to one part water worked very well. It just keeps it wet longer, so it doesn't dry so fast while you're working with it. I did one entire coat, and then two partial coats, which were mainly to fill in areas where I didn't get enough stain the first time. I just sat on the floor, and applied it with a sponge brush, and then wiped with a lint free rag. If you have lap marks, or you accidentally apply it too thick somewhere, it's very easy to sand off, so it's a good product for amateurs like me who goof up a lot. There was also no odor, and I was extremely happy with the result. This is a very nice water-based stain that can take the orange “tinge” out of dated orange wood. Clean up is easy.Easy to useWas not able to get the fence done properly. Had to buy a different brand. This is neither oil-based nor a gel stain. It's a water-based stain. So at least the photo is accurate, but I was hoping for a water-based gel stain. It is not a gel stain. It is a water base stain
